Durham Brass festival is truly a unique feast of modern international brass ensembles and (what in europe they call) `fanfare` Soznak look forward avidly every year to this opportunity to present their latest offerings in this rawcous context on the streets of durham.

To get to our shows in millenium square you come down out of market square which is the centre of durham you cross the bridge over the main rd and on the other side you turn left. It is also the location of the Gala theatre.

In the Durham brass fest this year Soznak will be playing brassacious afro-Geordie rumba including songs in Lingala Ncongo, French, Portugese and not the queen’s English. Soznak have just returned from touring Rumania and Ireland This will be a great opportunity to see them locally free of charge as a part of a humongous program of free brassadoubri-istic shows on the streets of Durham. Watch out for Berizo`s smokey honey vocals and Andy`s smoking souza.

Its not quite the Wembley Arena but Soznak are definately starting to develop escape velocity with shows in sibiu rumania 345 june and Waterford Eire 1st and second of july. Fine locations Bring it on.

Soznak has been chosen by the Schmazz Committee as an entrant for the forthcoming ‘Battle of the Bands’ event’ competing to participate in the 2011 Jazz festival at the Sage Gateshead.
The battle with sets of up to 30mins takes place at 730 pm Thurs 20th Jan
The battle ground is Northern rock hall The Sage Gateshead
The ‘running order’ of combatants is likely to be;
1. The Harley Johnson trio
2.Hannabiell and Midnight Blue
3. Paul Taylor
4. Soznak.

the band left newcastle at 6 am to drive through some parts of yorkshire that only the sat nav was interested in visiting to arrive at the beatifull venue for music port at Bridlington spa. Almost too tired to think and in that zone forbidden for musicians known as… before lunch we sound checked in three seconds flat and launched into our set. To our amazement from nowhere a hall full of dancers appeared and we had a really fun gig

A large broken suitcase arrived at my house.  I thought the french bouncing stilts had arrived. when i opened it I saw african shirts and a well thumbed french dictionary. Not long after beriso arrived  back from Angola. Perfect timing for the next two shows.  We have our double african guitar  and vocal act back Hurrah.
