Mute- antz` are a brand new mobile hyper-corporate Kafka-esque petite acoustic brass and drums ensemble. Mute-antz can add considerable surreal edge to your opening event or launch. And the kids love them. The brass veterans of the Ant Orkezdra and Soznak play an entertaining modern eclectic repertoire dipping into New Orleans, Africa, Latin, Blues, jazz and Middle Eastern music. The premier show launched the Durham Brass Festival 2009 receiving considerable local press.

An enormous brass sousaphone in its case weighing 32 kilos arrived last wed in time to be debued at the Noise and Socialising gig at the Black Swan with Peter Watts steering this beast. Impact was amazing.  We started the gig woth the ant orkezdra prepping for 5th jan in the  Almeria Cavalgata. In an instant the dance floor was seething and the energy was kept up for an hour as the ant set led into the soznak set. We will have to do this again. Andy has immediately taken to the Souza so watch out on the streets in jan as we go super funky orleans style. Meanwhile we have had our last busk for 2009 so happy xmass all and see you in 2010 unless you are in leeds to see our NWSI shows at new years eve. paul

Soznaks days of virtual sofa cruising the profiles of Myspace, Radio indie,  Jango, Facebook , Bebo, Spottify, Twitter etc are over.  We can still visit those venerable doss-houses but now thanks to Chris Maines and WordPress (and whoever designed this crafty little back end) we have our own home.  The site is  still rather unfurnished and we are living in some rooms while we fix others, hanging pictures on the walls and putting carpets down. But we hope you can come and visit soon and come back often to help us get a cosy feeling. It is a fine old rambling mansion and there will soon be many rooms to explore and links to lead you up the garden path.  Do check out those links by the way as they will take you to our other musical and theatrical craziness.

Soznak new small scratch ensembles (quintets) have proved popular for weddings

Soznak played up a storm at festival Afrique. They are now trying out new vocalists Zekiros from Ethiopia and preparing for a small brass busk on sat at northumberland street. Soznak will be launching new funk rap above celebrating busking and Newcastle’s cultural diversity.

Soznak gig time at Fest afrique has been changed to 845 but the evening starts at 7 see you on sat 14th nov.

Soznak will be performing at Nancys Bordello  sat 10th oct at 8pm and will be welcoming the gorgeous Chloe Allen  to join Dems Ndume our congolese guitarist singer song writer . Jeremy will be sitting in on bass.
